Getting to know Joey Logano

Photo courtesey of auto stock

Instead of a Fast Lap this week, we opted to do a little feature called getting to know Joey Logano. For the past 3 weeks, we have been bombarded with emails asking random questions about Joey. "What is Joey Loganos favorite food" "What is Joey Loganos favorite vacation spot" "Is Joey Logano afraid of heights?". We were like....OKAY, what is the deal with the 1001 questions about Joey Logano? We don't even get this amount in regards to Dale Earnhardt Jr!

Then like a lightning bolt, we came across Home Depots contest, Get to know Joey. They ask random questions about Joey with various prizes up for grabs. It is a pretty smart idea to ask non NASCAR related questions to a driver :)

We have learned the following facts about Mr. Logano:
Joey's favorite vacation site is St. Martin
Joey is in fact afraid of heights
Joey was 18 years, 21 days when he won his first Nationwide race at Kentucky Speedway
Joey's middle name is Thomas
Joey likes to race Bobsleds when not racing a stock car
Joey's favorite subject in school was recess
Joey's favorite food is Chicken Parmesan
Joey is 6'1" and wears a 11 1/2 size shoe
Joey's sister competed in figure skating

Now, we aren't cheating for you by giving away all of the answers but thought this would be a fun get to know you feature.

Joey Lagano's Nationwide post race Interview

This weekend, Nationwides Media Team twittered from the race in Nashville so make you you follow them since they will be at it again in Phoenix. They got quite a few twitpics from the weekend which can be viewed here.
See below for the official Joey Logano Nationwide Series Interview from this weekend.

Joey Logano NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion Interview – Nashville Superspeedway
Eighteen-year-old Joey Logano captured his first Nationwide Series victory of the season and the second of his career in the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Joey Logano: It’s big for me, you know it’s an awesome confidence booster for sure. You know, looking and saying hey I can do this, I am here for a reason, I can win races. That’s big, you know, just to reassure yourself that, and I’m sure this is all going to keep carrying on— you’ve got to build on this momentum and keep going.

Logano was able to hold off teammate Kyle Busch for the win.
Kyle Busch:
He had a better car on the short run, we had a better long run car, and you know I want to thank Z-Line, NOS Energy Drink, Toyota, all the guys on this team they did a great job. It’s just a shame we weren’t able to get out there and win this thing. You know, it’s kind of frustrating but we finished second today.

Logano had a good feeling about the race from the start of the weekend.
Logano: You know the car was good right off the bat, we qualified great, we practiced great and you know it started going and Kyle got by us—the car just kept getting tighter and tighter on the long runs and Dave just kept adjusting it and adjusting it and we were really good on the short runs and then we kept tightening up as we kept going so. As you look at Kyle back there at the end of the race and you get that clean air back on my nose and I know he was tight so that kind of made it worse for him and it was good enough to hold him off. It’s cool to have Joe Gibbs race a one-two finish. That’s a big deal for all the guys at the shop too.

Third place-finisher Brad Keselowski was asked why he was happier than Busch, who finished a spot ahead of him.
Brad Keselowski: Highlight that as the question of the year. Do you have enough time for me today to answer that? Obviously you know he’s running two series so when you come to the Nationwide level as a driver like himself that’s you know as successful as he is, sometimes when you’re not winning you’re not happy.

The Nationwide Series will return this week to the Phoenix International Raceway. Look for the audio interview following the Basha’s Supermarkets 200 April 17.

Joey Logano asks for footies and perhaps a bedtime story for each race

Oh come on you all....you are making it too easy for us today. In the midst of the hype of race week and the success of lots of great things to people we know that is putting incredible stress on our livers...the guys at Black Flagged Online scooped us on this but my god I dont know if it is because it is Friday or this is the first time in 6 days I havent been drinking or hungover on the track that I feel an urgency to comment.
Now, I must pretense that I dont mean to make fun of this poor little kid, but for all that is good and Petty stop making it so easy for us! Bravo to these guys for sharing our sense of humor. Enjoy the read and leave comments on what we could add to ease Joey Joeyerton into this big boy sport. First thoughts from the fashionistas? Maybe strapping a teddy bear in the passenger seat for comfort and maybe putting some milk instead of Gatorade In Car Drinking System...

A comment off of HABV Facebook

Sometimes, things make me really laugh REALLY hard....

I was at NHMS on Friday, too bad it got rained out. I was the one wearing the Earnhardt Jr gear from top to bottom that was standing by the track on the straightway where pit road is. Wish I could've stayed longer, but left...
Oh you were that guy? The one from head to toe junior gear? Thank you so much for clearing that up for us!!

My brother Joey Nangano is racing today, the Home Depot commercial was great...Keep Digging My Little Pony!

My little pony....sweet little pony...

I know Carl is the older and wiser horse in the stable... but he better watch out for my little pony, who is trotting up behind him. Next year, this little baby horsie will be driving the 20, and hot on the hoofs of Mr. Ed(wards).
