Nascar Cribs

Early this year, CMT kicked off a new season of Cribs with a NASCAR edition. It featured Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Of the three, I like Kevin and Delana's house the best. On CMTs website, they have an extra footage video up, which I posted below. I learned from this footage that Kevin loves Goldschlager (ew!) and Denny has 2 roommates.

NASCAR Cribs must have been a hit. I read this morning that Martin Truex Jr will be filming a segment on Tuesday, March 3rd!!!

"I really enjoyed having the CMT people here," Truex said. "I've always been a big fan of Cribs, so to have my place featured on the show is really cool."

My question for you is if you could see any drivers home, which would it be? My personal request would be Jimmie and Chandra Johnson. My reason? To see Chandra's closet.

Should Sprint and Nationwide be so closely intertwined?

I have been thinking about this for a while. We have been talking about it on Twitter but its really hard to tell you my true thoughts in 140 characters or less. When I was growing up, the BUSCH (sorry i still call it that to this day) series was almost like a JV, a college series of sort. It was a good chance to see some up and coming drivers that would one day race in the Sprint series. There was a sprinkling of "some been there done that" drivers who-while clearly out of the chase-would race a baby carriage if you put him near it.

Fast forward to 2009: 16 of of the 43 drivers were active Sprint Cup chasers in Daytona's Camping World 300. I think this is horrible! In this economy, I feel there may be a need to make some adjustments/provisions to its Nationwide race. I know from a ticket sales point of view this may be a definitive hell to the no..but think of it from a marketing perspective. The bread and butter of any race team is through its sponsorships....especially when they are just starting out. In this economy who would give a sponsor a bigger bang for his buck? Should they put their brand on a Carl Edwards Nationwide Car or a lesser known Justin Allgaier for example?

I just don't think that this is fair to the guys that are trying to make it into the sport. Some would argue that this gives Nationwide drivers a chance to run with the big guys. But, when freaking Kyle Busch and his stupid bow are being spoken about a history making three peat, the warm and fuzzy feeling of "keep your eyes on that guy" is lost. I also feel that with no provisions soon this will take away from the notoriety of a Nationwide Champion. A Nationwide Series Champion should have the pride of being "the one to watch" when they enter the Sprint Series as a true rookie. I predict that in a couple of years, these up and comers will lose the dollars to compete and the entire field will be one Sprint Series paid practice.

Tee Riddle has made an excellent point: What if Brett Favre or Tom Brady announced they were going back to play college football, or Alex Rodriguez said he was going to play high school baseball?? It would be viewed as ridiculous. Except in NASCAR.

Is it really over???

So, WOW~ is this really the end of Speedweeks in Daytona? It seems like the girls and I were just celebrating Martin Truex Jr's pole win, one week ago, then all of a sudden...kapow! It is race day! Where did the time go? Today seemed to have flown by quicker then Maverick and Goose could sing Righteous Brothers songs, drinking cheap beer and whiskey!!

Speaking of ol Maverick.....yeah, we met him. Tom Cruise was the Grand Marshall of the race today and we had one of the right place at the right time moments and got to meet him. We were all equally impressed with how friendly he was. Imagine this, Megan (Miss shy, scardy cat) actually said to him "Hey Tom, I like your glasses". You can see why, since we were all "ROCKIN" the RAYBAN AVIATORS....she made the Maverick giggle.

So, moving on...still spinning from our Tom Cruise encounter, we realized we actually have a race today! Darlynn got to meet her idol, AJ Foyt, YAY! Uncle Pete will be so proud!!! Could this day get any better??? Yes it does! Megan looked up and was in inches of Tim Tebow. The shyness took over as she got cold feet but she still got to see him face to face.

The race was getting ready to start and it looked like the rain was not going to be an issue. We rushed down to pit road and met up with our friends, the #1 crew. Now we are underway, standing with the pole sitter, listening to the National Anthem, watching the flyby, seeing more Tom Cruise TMZ shots, etc. It's about time.....Lets Go Racin Boys!!!!!!!!

We were sitting in the #1 Bass Pro Shops pit when the race started. We were ecstatic that our boys lead lap number one of the 2009 Nascar Season!! Martin Truex Jr's pit box was a few spots away from our other favorite crew chief, Tommy Baldwin, the new proud owner of Tommy Baldwin Racing!! We are extremely excited for what the 09 Season is going to bring to them.

Now here comes the "this only happens to us" story of the night. As we were saying our goodbyes in the Driver/Owner lot, contemplating our escape route. We look out side and see TomKat and Suri getting ready to leave. It was suggested that we attach to the back of their police escort/motorcade. Ally is convinced at this point, Megan is 110% going to jail for what you see below. Yes, that is us following Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri out of the track, driving on the track, going 60 mph, in the opposite direction. We were hysterically laughing and Megs said she felt like she was Cole Trickle, following Cole Trickle...the irony here, really???

Goodnight and goodbye Speedweeks 2009. Our livers almost didn't make it...

We'll be on the couch next week for California, still in recovery mode - but, we are SOOOOO HAPPY that the 2009 Nascar Season has started!! Thanks to all our new friends on Twitter. We love it and hope you will continue to follow us.

Tommy Baldwin Racing makes the show!

Tommy Baldwin Racing and the #36 Toyota driven by Scott Riggs WILL be in the 51st running of the Daytona 500!!! This is exciting news to us, as Tommy is one of the nicest guys in the sport and well loved and respected by all in the garage!

We are very proud of his new endeavor, and Congratulations to him and his team!!

The first dual was a nail biter, Martin Truex's spin in the second half of the race had us also spinning as we were in his pit box when that happend! While listening to his scanner, there was no major damage to the car, but Bono feared the splitter could be damaged...Martin said he didn't feel too much vibration while he was out there alone, so we had a sigh of releif!

The Fashionistas are in the fanzone, getting ready for the 2nd dual. We are pulling for Regan Smith to race his way in! This is the exciting part of Race Weeks, seeing who is going to make the show!!

More updates to come!

We would also like to send a Thank You! To all of our new followers! We hope you are enjoying our updates, live from Daytona!!

Martin Truex Jr. Daytona 500 pole winner

Do whaaaaaa? Talladega Review take 3

First off, just as a general sigh of relief...all girls made it home from Talladega alive and very well. Actually our trip home was quite luxurious, but more on that later.

So, even as I was packing I was a little apprehensive....what the hell was I getting myself into?? I mean really? I grew up in Daytona Beach, I have seen the craziest of Spring Breaks....Club 3 in Daytona was scary enough....how bad could this be??

On a low note, I will tell you I was nauseous when Martin Truex Jr wrecked...the look on everyone's face from the pit box and the running towards the car was scary.... I am really glad that he was ok, that it wasn't his fault and noone had to pull a Rhianna...next week punkins next week!

Lets get on to the high notes shall we? The trip itself was quite awesome. We were fed and given libations till we couldn't see. The first night was the most fun. Can I tell you how happy I that we are on a motor coach that had an endless supply of Red Bull...I really needed the extra energy, especially for Talladega Blvd.....the most fun was at that tent that was at the place with the thing about the stuff...dont really remember how this was THE apparent meeting spot. But there Tool was and let the party begin...all was well and we were introduced to this person and that person.

Met some guy that did sales or something for DEI...apparently this is an inside sales job as he had the personality of a pin. Have you met me? I can make friends with a fork! I was proper and inquisitive (as dur I have been in sales and marketing for 14 years) and I tried to find a common ground with him to no avail...moving on!

Then we run smack dab into Reed Sorenson and his wing man...great eyes, nice enough but did you know reed is another word for instrument as in a tool? Just saying. His wingman did a horrible job trying to save him from the claws of Blue shiny jacket Pinky Tuscadero from Grease...god bless him...he was really nice.

Saturday was awesome, Napped and watched football and ate and drank....perfect! Sunday was the race and at the end of the day my time in dega was well spent, well remembered and impressionable by all .

I will give you my two cents about the race. As you know, by default Tony Stewart is one of my favorites...thanks to Uncle Pete. I am glad that he won, but I am sad that Regan Smith not only didnt win but NASCAR didnt give him second. Thats just wrong. This is racing and this is what the fans pay to see....but that is bullcrap. What will be interesting is how this event will be portrayed in the media.I believe that this is a blessing for DEI...why?? THIS IS the bees knees for PR!!! If they pull it off right, which I have 100% confidence that they will...they can put Reegs smack dab in the Nascar Spotlight on the map as the driver who didnt go out like Cryle Busch...he is a good racer, took it like a man and god narmit deserves a fantastic sponsor next year.

Ok, I have been officially been in Alabama too long!

A race full of heartbreaks

SO, Tony Stewart is my new hated driver. I try not to take things personal when it comes to Nascar....but when my friend almost gets his first win....at Talladega of all places, only to get the win snatched out from under him infuriates me. I am so upset with Nascar. They are saying Regan tried to improve his position because Tony pushed him below the yellow line. Regan prevented a wreck when he did this. Now Regan ended up getting black flagged. Well bud...I will always consider you as the winner of this race and I couldn't have been happier with your performance yesterday.
Now, lets move onto my other heartbreak of the race....Martin Truex Jr. getting wrecked. Darlynn and I were sitting in the Bass Pro pits when the wreck happened right in front of us. It seems the boys cant get a break. How many weeks in a row have they had the car to win and end up getting screwed? Its like they cant win for losing.

Now the next chapter is the positive one about our weekend. I can honestly say, I was a little apprehensive coming into this weekend, although I was with 2 girls I love and many guys I love to be around. I was very surprised for the most part. The race was the worst part of my weekend. Who can honestly say that? I had the greatest time and all of us needed this weekend. Melissa and Darlynn have already put their two sense as to what happened so I wont need to elaborate.

"Its Just Dega...."

Those were the words from Bono, "It's Just Dega". GOD what a freakin mess of a race today!?!?! Martin had a great car- Top 10 all day- even taking the lead at times.....then THE TIRES. Brian Vickers blew a front right tire, and just wiped out our Martin Truex Jr. Bad and Hard. I think they said he took a total of 5 hits. OUCH. He went high, hit the wall, got spun by multiple cars 3 more times, then hit the lower wall- HARD. They came back from commercial, and I just saw that black chevy hitting the lower wall and I immediately jumped up from my coma and was like "OH F**K"- the scanner was on delay on the computer, so the wreck had not happened yet...then I hear Joey going "Are you ok?, Martin talk to us" and it was silent. SILENT. The TV had flashed to some of the other cars...then I saw Martin out of the car, and he was pissssssssssed. Tore off his tear sheet, took his helmet off and threw it in the car...it was bad- then they showed him walking by himself, just rubbing his hands over his head....It just SUCKED.

The girls were there, and I am sure they will talk about it first hand, cause I know they were by the Bass Pro pits when it happened. What a freakin mess.

Then- 5 to go. Our Reegs is running 2nd...I cant even write about the ending to that race. If you saw it, you know. REGAN WON THE RACE. REGAN WON THE RACE. But of course cause he got pushed under the yellow line for the pass....he got F**ked. So, no, TONY actually won the race. Probably one of the most controversial finishes all year. Poor Reegs. He really did win that race.

Have a beer for me Regan. You too Martin.

hmmmm

I am SO out of the loop on this one, as I was out entertaining and didn't really have time to watch all of the race. I will come up with a rebuttal! Eventually. How glad was I not to be anywhere near Martins pit box when he wrecked?

Nascar Junkies

The trials and tribulations of 3 Nascar junkies.....First I have to state that NO, we do not stalk drivers to get their photos. We know many of these guys personally. Once you have an "in" in the Nascar world, it is easy to get to know people. Then you become well known on Pit Road and it's all over from there. Just imagine walking in the garage and a crew chief stops what he is doing to scream "skanks" at you! (he's kidding) I know that sounds bad but the "MY NEW HAIRCUT" video on youtube and too much Moonshine had a lot to do with that. Or how about Darlynn and Ally who became known at Darlington '07 as "The two girls in black cowboy hats" by pretty much everyone on pit row. I got a call from a certain driver friend of mine who starts telling me about these girls who were talk of the garage. Well, go figure, they were my best friends. To boot, at this years Pepsi, scratch that Coke 400, someone came up to them and asked if they were the "two girls in black cowboy hats". It is almost ridiculous.

So below, I would like to share some of our photos with you.
