This Saturday night, many celebrities including football coaches, football players, TV/radio personalities and more will run the heat races as part of the Scotts Saturday Night Special.
The celebrity line up includes:
Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech football coach (who will also serve as the grand marshal of the Food City 500)
Terry Bowden, University of North Alabama football coach
David Akers, Philadelphia Eagles kicker
Mike Compton, Local High School football coach (who won 2 Super Bowls with the New England Patriots)
Bill Jordan, Owner and founder of Realtree Camouflage
Riki Rachtman, of MTV's Charm School and Daisy of Love
Andy Petree, Former car owner
Ray Evernham, Former car owner
Brad Daugherty, Retired all-star player with the Cleveland Cavaliers
Greg Anderson, Pro Stock driver
Ron Capps, Funny Car driver
Doug Herbert, Top Fuel Dragster
These celebrities will run 15-lap (or 10-minute) heats to help determine the starting spots of their pro driver teammates, who then will run 35 laps. This field includes legends Junior Johnson, David Pearson, Harry Gant, Cale Yarborough and Jack Ingram.
Towards their charities, the winning team is guaranteed $25,000, in addition second place will receive $10,000 and the remaining teams will get $5,000. Pairings will be announced at a later time.
The Saturday Night Special will take place after the completion of the Scotts Turf Builder 300 Nationwide Series race and the 100-lap UARA late model event. Admission for the Saturday Night Special is included in the price of the Scotts Turf Builder 300 earlier in the day.
